Feels like

I am behind. I probably am but today and tomorrow I am going to use as days to catch up in all of my classes. The end is near, thankfully, I am so ready and in much need of a good break. I have no ideal what I am going to do my movie on, but I really need to get started on it. Oh I am so tired of school.

Facebook

I had not realized I forgot to post about this until tonight. I think it is perfectly fine for teachers to have facebooks, but she did cross the line when she began gripping about the school and everything about the school. I understand that she was frustrated and just wanted to vent but she could have just picked up the phone and called her friend instead of posting it on her blog. I believe if teachers are going to post things on their pages they need to be very careful. Since the school did not get mad at her I would not worry about this particular instance but other teachers should watch their steps and be careful about similar situations.

Web tools

My favorite web tool that we used/viewed tonight was the puzzle generator one. I think it would be useful and I know I enjoyed doing the crossword puzzle much better than answering questions. I also liked the quiz one. I understand that it is not secure but you could give it to your students as a practice test. I do not think the cramberry site was very useful. If I need to study notecards then I need to take the time and write them out because that way I can take them every where and I dont have to be on the computer the whole time, which is good because I don't have much time to be on the computer.

Spring Break

So I am so ready for spring break. It officially starts for me at 4:45 this after noon and i cant wait. I hope that everyone enjoys their break.

concept mapping

I have been meaning to write a blog about concept mapping for a while now, but this is the first chance i have had to actually sit down and do it. I actually enjoyed concept mapping. I found it to be useful and easy. I think it could help when I am actually in the classroom if the school has the program. I do not think I would buy it myself.

Questions 2 and 9

#2) What components of a computer are essential for general classroom use (Chapt. 1)?

I am not sure if this is exactly what Dr. Juneau is looking for but I looked in the book and found this. The main components that are needed for classroom use are: tower, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. A printer may also be helpful but I do not think that many classrooms have one even though they are useful.

#9) In what classroom situation would an online simulation be an appropriate learning tool (Chapt. 6)?

Again I looked the question up in the book and this is what I understand it to be saying. Students doing things online can be very useful. One way to do this is to show them a educational website on the subject. Another thing I got from the book was to have them look up questions on kid friendly sites. Give a list of approved sites or if they are looking it up in class block sites you do not want them to go to or set one of the kid friendly ones as the home page. Many online things can be extremely helpful teachers just have to be careful as to where their students go.

Blogging about Blogging

I have blogged before, but never for a class. I enjoy blogging... sometimes. I am excited about doing this for a class, but I am sure it is going to be very much different from the blogs I usually do.
